Lucette is a singer/songwriter from Edmonton just starting to make her mark on the music scene. Her debut album “Black Is The Color” is a toe tapping folk/pop record with a laid back country feel.

We can tell by the first few catchy tracks on the album “Bobby Reid,” “Black Is The Color,” Able May,” and “Muddy Water,” that this woman means business. Though just starting out at 20 years of age, Lucette has made an impressive debut country album. We think, her first single “Bobby Reid” (listen below) could have easily been an Emmylou Harris song.

Some of the more moody songs bare a real intimacy. Lucette sings her melancholic lyrics with her sweet voice and it draws you in close. It’s as if her vocal takes were recorded in her own bedroom, in complete solitude.

The final track: “Utah” works perfectly as the folk-noir finale of the album.
