The premiere of Tchaikovsky's 6th Symphony on October 28, 1893 in St. Petersburg was met with a restrained audience. According to the composer himself, the program behind the work in B minor was to "remain a mystery to everyone." He described his work as "full of subjective sentiments." Today, the symphony is one of the Russian composer's most popular.Title: Tchaikovsky: Symphony No. 6 "Pathétique"

Karl Böhm conducted the London Symphony Orchestra for this recording at London's Walthamstow Town Hall in 1978.
This title is an SHM SACD. This format is the further development of the single-layer SACD and uses a particularly light-transparent plastic (Super High Material). It allows a much better readability of the pit-land structures on the surface than is possible with hybrid SACDs. Universal's SHM SACDs are generally re-digitized to DSD from the albums' master tapes without any changes.
