Del Shannon is a key figure in rock & roll’s transition from the Fifties to the Sixties, serving as a link between Elvis Presley and The Beatles. One of the best and most original rockers of the Teen Idol era, Shannon wrote his own material, played guitar and sang, and did not project a manufactured image. He turned out a solid run of hits during the first half of the Sixties, including one bonafide classic (“Runaway”) and seven more Top 40 singles.

This quintessential collector’s edition presents Shannon’s first two albums, which were issued during his most inspired years: the sensational debut Runaway With Del Shannon (1961), and the follow-up Hats Off to Del Shannon (1962). These two masterpieces have been remastered and packaged together in this very special release, which also contains 5 bonus tracks from the same period, including the single versions of “Runaway” and “Hats Off to Larry”, that are much punchier than their album counterparts. Without a doubt, this is the material upon which Del Shannon’s legend was built.
