The slide guitar played in the south-western states of Louisiana, Texas and California was just as often marked by the blues as it was by Hawaiian, Mexican or Western Swing influences. This original, particular style, quite different from the way they played the blues in Chicago or Mississippi, was an integral part of the tasty, musical stew which had all the crispness and spicy excitement that went into the recipe of which this region had the secret.
