Billy Fury - The Sound of Fury + Billy Fury (Bonus Track Version) (2012)

The legendary (though half-forgotten) Billy Fury was the most successful solo star to emerge from Liverpool during the 1950s and 1960s. He was also one of the most prodigiously talented of his generation of British rock & roll singers, a songwriter of considerable ability, and a decent actor as well. Fury became an overnight music sensation in the late 1950s when his moody brand of rock & roll earned him the nickname of “Britain's Elvis Presley.” Fury's stage performances and sexual charisma left his female fans screaming for more, cementing his place as Britain's coolest teen idol. Though his early success may have been eclipsed in later years by the Liverpool bands that followed him, his clear voice and innate modesty ensured he remained one of the country’s best-loved rock singers.

This quintessential release features Billy Fury's first two (and arguably finest) LPs, which were originally released in 1960: his debut 10-inch album, The Sound of Fury, and the follow-up LP, Billy Fury. Here you will find such favorites as "That’s Love," “Maybe Tomorrow,” "It’s You I Need," “Don’t Leave Me this Way” and “Last Kiss,” among others. Both masterpieces have been packaged together in this very special collector’s edition, which also includes 10 bonus tracks from the same period (including other smash hits, as well as hard to find sides and alternate takes). All of these original gems, which have been brilliantly remastered to achieve the most pristine sound, are simple twoand- a-half-minute songs that convey all the sheer power and emotion of rock & roll.
