Breathy vocals don't get any better than this -- and although Julie Wilson was never a big selling name in the 50s, her albums from the decade are always some of our favorites! Wilson's approach here is a bit like that of Julie London on her earliest sides for Liberty -- spare, moody, and sung with effortless ease -- a style that drifts out nicely over lightly jazzy backings arranged by Phil Moore, Russ Case, and Marty Gold -- often with just a few instruments up in the mix, to create a sort of small combo feel.
