SINGAPORE - Before Seattle-based singer-songwriter Star Anna recorded her well-received Go To Hell album (with The Laughing Dogs), she had recorded the songs for what now is being released as the digital-only album, The Sky Is Falling. According to the artist, this album is about getting sober, letting go and moving forward. Stylistically, the music is classic rock ‘n’ roll of the ’60s and ’70s and it isn’t difficult to pick out elements of country, folk, blues and rock in this compelling nine-track release. The best country-folk-rock holds the greatest potential for “white soul” and songs like the heart-tugging Love Song, the rollicking Let’s Not Kid Ourselves, the wistful Only Guessing and the poignant Killing Time bear this out in the most convincing manner. The musical structures may be familiar but Star Anna makes each track distinctive with the injection of her heart and soul.
