From its inception, KOTW was classified as a so-called “supergroup” and the band immediately established itself in the Dutch blues top. Over ten years now, various national radio and TV appearances, many national and international shows and a few personnel changes. Furthermore, little has changed in that position. With a larger role for Marlon Pichel, who is now also successful solo and was on the Radio 2 playlist for weeks, and with a guest contribution from guitar phenomenon Matt Schofield, the band now delivers perhaps its best album to date. Listen and judge for yourself.

After more than ten years at the top of the Dutch and European roots music scene, the gentlemen are taking a new path with this release. The album places a strong emphasis on the carefully composed songs and the versatile vocals within the band.

In addition to frontman Ruud Weber, drummer Marlon Pichel now also shines with his lead vocals, while guest singer Christine Tambakis (USA) enriches three songs with her powerful voice. The album contains moving songs such as “One More Night”, a tribute to their late sound engineer, as well as songs with a positive message that are desperately needed in these turbulent times. World-famous guitarist Matt Schofield (UK/USA) takes two tracks to an even higher level with his virtuoso playing, which contributes to the band’s unique sound.

With this album, King of the World shows how years of collaboration and a diversity of roots-oriented styles merge into the distinctive sound the band is known for.
