De Mannen Broeders - Sober Maal (2024) [Hi-Res]

DE MANNEN BROEDERS is the first collaboration between Colin van Eykaut and Tonny “broeder” Dylan, two well-known figures in the Flemish music scene. The two artists found much in common with each other, ranging from similar dialects and a connection to their homeland to a spiritual and melancholic bent. Their collaboration resulted in the album Sober Maal, recorded in less than five days in an eighteenth-century church. The album is a haunting and emotional journey, combining Colin and Tonny's vocals with a choir and humble instruments such as banjo, piano and hardy gurdy. However, despite the melancholy atmosphere, there is support and hope in the album. Colin notes that it is important for them to distinguish between religion and spirituality, and that they prefer to explore the inscrutable aspects of life and the sacred in free interpretation.
