Esther Cheah - Tunes (2024)

'Tunes' is for the everyday. It's for the commute, the cafe, the late night, the waiting in line. It's music that is meant to accompany, no matter where you are or where you come from.

These songs were written in late 2023 and early 2024, inspired by a few live music experiences - Snarky Puppy, Anomalie, Ezra Collective - that brought home the beauty and life of instrumental music. They are born out of a realisation that music can be informal, groovy, fun, and a little complex at the same time. We just need to make it so.

Produced over several months at home in Singapore, 'Tunes' is a debut in many ways: writing songs without words, recording, mixing, mastering; but perhaps most importantly, finding the courage to put new music into the world. It's an example of how we are all works in progress - and hopefully, moving towards a lighter and brighter day.
