Mariama is a unique creative a performance artist and musician, who has in the last years placed her artistry with a mark in the Norwegian art scene. Not only was she the leading role as Nina Simone in the critically acclaimed theatre production “I am Nina” at the Nordic Black Theatre in Oslo, Norway. The production was up for 4 years due to popular demands.

Ndure grew up in Norway to Gambian parents. Her art has been very much affected by stemming from two cultures. Her music draws from the West African music heritage and as well African American genres such as jazz, hip hop, soul and so forth. In addition, her work is also influenced by improvisation. After headlining a sold- out concert for Global Oslo Music showcases in 2020. She was asked to commission a new piece in 2021 by Global Oslo Music Festival in fall 2021, this became a continuation of the piece “Ritual” and was called Ritual Part II. The piece was shown to a sold-out audience in Oslo, Norway.

In January 2024 Ndure will be recorded her debut album based on the music from. This album will be titled “Rituals” and will be released this year.

She continues to tour extensively in Norway with own projects such as “En fot her og en fot der” and “Riti Ritimo”. She has worked with proclaimed artist and performers such as Sandra Mujinga, Ivan Mazuze, Xander Crook, Nosizwe Baqwa, Karoline Wallace, Joel Ring, Liv Andrea Hauge, Ibou Cissokoh, Becaye Aw and Amie Mbye.
