Malian musician Pédro Kouyaté began his career in music as a teenager, training with the renowned Symmetric Orchestra led by Toumani Diabaté. He also performed with Malian bluesman Boubacar Traoré during tours across Europe, Africa, and the USA.

In 2006, Pédro moved to Paris and formed “Pédro Kouyaté & Band,” featuring Vincent Bucher (harmonica), Renaud Ollivier (drums), and Florent Dupuit (saxophone). He performed regularly at the Musée de la Musique in Paris, showcasing the art of the griot and traditional West African instruments.

He collaborated with jazz icon Archie Shepp and toured Japan with percussionist Olu Togun and bassist Ryo Shimizu, appearing at festivals like Jazz in Marciac and Africajarc. In 2016, he released AÏNA, a collection of his best works, and contributed music to several films, including Giants of Africa. That year, he opened for Youssou N’Dour at the Olympia and continued to tour Africa.

Pédro later explored electro-blues, collaborating with artists like Oxmo Puccino and Mamani Keita for the album Vis ta Vie, leading up to his project FOLLOWING.
