Sdban Records presents Doo’s Blues, a collection of previously unreleased radio recordings by Serbian jazz trumpeter, composer, and bandleader Dusko Goykovich (1931-2023), who established himself as one of Europe’s prominent jazz musicians.

Born in Jajce, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Goykovich began his musical career at the Belgrade Music Academy before moving to the West German jazz scene, playing with the bands of Kurt Edelhagen and the Clarke-Boland duo. After studying at Berklee, he worked with Woody Herman and Maynard Ferguson. Returning to Europe in the 1960s, he developed an innovative Balkan jazz style, showcased in the album Swinging Macedonia (1966), which remains a significant contribution to European folk-inspired jazz.

Doo’s Blues features recordings from two 1967 sessions for Belgian radio, where Goykovich performed with various ensembles, showcasing his unique jazz style that blends Balkan folk melodies with American jazz and blues.
