Saxophonist Sakina Abdou continues her work following a successful solo debut by releasing her first trio album in the fall of 2024 on the New York label Relative Pitch Records. This album is the result of several days of improvised sessions and two concerts, combining 60 minutes of intimate, acoustic musical exploration.

The trio also features Polish pianist Marta Warelis, known for her collaborations with Dave Douglas and Andy Moor, and French percussionist Toma Gouband, who has performed with Evan Parker. Abdou had previously worked with them in the gamelan ensemble Nist-Nah and the Amsterdam improvisational collective Doek.

The album blends free improvisation with influences from jazz, minimalism, classical, and noise music, creating an organic sound with elements of chamber music. Gouband's percussive textures and the rare musical synergy between Abdou’s saxophone and Warelis’ piano reveal a rich palette of sounds and a diversity of ideas that push the boundaries of genres.
