Jim O'Rourke and Eyvind Lönning have unveiled a stunning new album, Most, but Potentially All, that explores experimental music on a new level. Lönning plays trumpet while O'Rourke uses his Kyma system to process and transform sounds. The album begins with a cautious introduction to the sonic palette through the vibrating and birdlike cries of the horn, then the sounds are taken into a whole new territory through O'Rourke's manipulations. The album continues to evolve, turning the sounds into Xenakis-inspired beats and cybernetic strings. The third act introduces a more spiral sound with an emphasis on Lönning's improvisation. The overall work creates a complex but impressive record that turns the perception of contemporary experimental music upside down and sets a new standard.
