Debut disc of Bobby Gentry, a beautiful and husky singer from Mississippi! Bobbie Gentry's major label debut album "Billie Joe's Song" was a number one hit in the U.S., won a Grammy Award, and was made into a movie in 1976 and became a hit again. Her first album (1967), which includes the song "Billie Joe's Song," is filled with swampy numbers of her own compositions, including "Mississippi Delta," which is exactly the same song, and her husky voice with a distinctive Southern feeling. Two bonus tracks have been added.
