Clara Ponty - Clara Ponty (1997)

This is the debut album for Clara Ponty, daughter of the legendary jazz violinist Jean-Luc. Ponty, a classically trained pianist, chose to create her own compositions rather than follow a traditional path and have a rigid classical performing career. "Romance" was composed with her father and takes a delicately winding path. Two renowned percussionists, Hassan Hakmoun and Glen Velez, add driving rhythmic undercurrents on "Mandarin Dream" and "Mind Spin" respectively. "Reminiscence" and "Sunrise Prayer" showcase Ponty's reflective playing, inviting introspection.
