Harry Breuer, a pioneering musician of the space-age bachelor pad era, was a virtuoso xylophonist who elevated percussion music beyond mere novelty. Initially a violinist, he switched to xylophone in high school and became a standout performer during its early years. Breuer played with notable groups like the Cliquot Club Eskimos and Roxy's Gang, later joining the Radio City Music Hall orchestra. He also worked for Warner Brothers and Fox studios in the 1930s-40s, appearing in short films and educational projects.

Breuer's career spanned live entertainment, classical music, and education, with published percussion guides and performances of works by composers like Stravinsky. In the 1960s-70s, he contributed to TV, commercials, and films, including scoring silent comedies. His collaboration with Jacques Perrey on The Happy Moog showcased his versatility in blending traditional and electronic music.

Even in his later years, Breuer embraced innovation, recording with a Kurzweil synthesizer at age 86 for Mallets in Wonderland. A key figure in his genre, Breuer is remembered for his creativity, technical skill, and lifelong dedication to music.
