The Heliocentrics create music that defies categorization, blending influences from funk, jazz, psychedelia, and avant-garde genres. Inspired by artists like James Brown, Sun Ra, Ennio Morricone, and Can, their music points toward a unique form of psychedelia shaped by their deep musical knowledge and obsession. Led by drummer Malcolm Catto and bassist Jake Ferguson, the band has spent nearly two decades pursuing an individual sound that exists outside of mainstream trends.

Their music explores an alternate realm where diverse influences—funk, jazz, electronic, and world music—coalesce around a central groove, “The One.” With their album Infinity of Now on Madlib’s label, Madlib Invazion, the Heliocentrics continue to push their vision of psychedelic funk while incorporating elements from Latin and African traditions.
