Accordionist Ted Reichman's debut is a musical portrait of photographer André Kertész. It's very pretty although quite moody chamber jazz led by Reichman's accordion and piano and Doug Wieselman on clarinet, often with acoustic guitar in the background. There is also some very nice string arrangements and playing, and at times, subtle use of electronics. The songs themselves are not revolutionary or out, but some of the arrangements are very interesting ("Distortion 4," "Provence, 1979"), giving the whole project a familiar yet novel sound. Lovely stuff. © Sean Westergaard
