Hvalfugl - Bag Vore Øjne Strømmer Drømme Sagte Forbi (2025) [Hi-Res]

On a late afternoon in the spring of 2022, the three of us gathered in a quiet rehearsal room in the heart of Aarhus. We were going to write some new pieces of music together, just like we had done many times before, all the way back to when we started playing together in 2016. Yet, we weren’t entirely sure what this new music would be for. It was only a short time after we’d released some singles, created during the COVID period, which had served as a sort of creative stopover after our last major release, Øjeblikke Vi Husker.

As we talked about what our next project might look like, we couldn’t help but reflect on the fantastic experience of involving other musicians in our universe, something we had experimented with on our last album. The moods we sought to create took on new and different lives when expanded with drums, strings, and brass and this was something we wanted to explore more deeply.

With four distinct pieces, each one marking its own musical exploration, we wanted to shape a collage of moods - a fusion of diverse soundscapes, where each piece contributed its own tone and color, ultimately merging into a musical whole. We hope that our large work with the lengthy title Bag Vore Øjne Strømmer Drømme Sagte Forbi will bring you the same joy in listening as it has given us in creating and playing it - together with so many wonderful musicians.
