A singer, guitarist, composer, poet, writer, and former Minister of Culture, Lucio is a key figure in Cape Verde’s cultural scene, known for promoting creolization—the blending of cultures that defines his country.

As the former leader of the iconic Cape Verdean group Simentera and with six solo albums to his name, Lucio’s seventh album *Independance* is both a celebration of historical change and a joyful tribute to his childhood, filled with music and festivity. The album’s title cleverly plays with the word “dance,” reflecting its lively and celebratory nature.
