Treverket - Et bedre sted (2025)

Dangerously Cool Avant Garde Jazz That Includes Bluegrass, Country, Pop and even Classical Flourishes.

The exciting band from Western Norway, Treverket, will release their long-awaited second album “Et bedre sted” on January 31, 2025 via the record label Eget Selskap. Treverket is often categorized as a jazz band, but the band actually concentrates mostly on making exciting music across musical genres. The music has clear roots in the Nordic jazz tradition, but also draws inspiration from classical music, country, bluegrass, pop rock and free improvisation. The result is catchy, melodic and exploratory music, spiced with soaring pedal steel and intense synthesizers. After the concert at Nattjazz 2023, Audun Vinger reported: “…Something is studiedly cinematic, there is a languid Americana and Hawaiian atmosphere, and a dash of both country and Afrobeat. The audience loves this too, we are like encapsulated in a sardine can. I think most festivals could have felt the need for a joy-spreader like Treverket on their program.”

Treverket is a project led by Mathias Marstrander and Martin Hjetland, and consists of a bouquet of creative musicians who come from the jazz community in Bergen. Since their debut at Vill Vill Vest in 2022, the band has played at the Bergen Culture House, Nattjazz, Nasjonal Jazzscene, Dragefjellfestivalen and Jolajazz, among other places, and released the critically acclaimed debut album “Tapte Sjelers Dal” (2023). With Treverket, every concert is its own adventure, every song a musical journey and every record a new concept: “A new planet is in sight, and the creatures that live there seem to dance to brand new music.
