Sawaya Quartet and Chorus - Love Songs of Lebanon (2004)

Masterful oud player George Sawaya joins his sisters, brother, and brother in law to form the Sawaya Chorus and perform traditional Arab music. George Sawaya was raised in a small village in Quebec, where he first learned to play mandolin. At ten years old, Sawaya set himself on his life’s path of learning the traditional Arab songs that his parents enjoyed in Lebanon and on the gramophone. Each piece on Love Songs of Lebanon is performed on violin, durbakki, daf, and oud. The album also includes original liner notes include lyrics in both Arabic and English.
