Célia Wa, a multi-talented Guadeloupean artist, makes a bold statement with Fasadé, her debut album—an immersive sonic journey that transcends time and borders.

Her path to Fasadé was not without challenges. After releasing three EPs, she remained steadfast in her vision, driven by a deep and unshakable Creole identity. Even for those unfamiliar with the language, her powerful interpretation and emotive music make the album’s essence undeniable.

The nine tracks reflect resilience forged through hardship, transforming struggle into strength. Love, faith, and passion fuel her artistic journey, alongside longtime collaborators Xavier Belin (keyboards) and Kristof Négrit (drums). With David Walters contributing to composition and arrangements, their collective sound extends far beyond the Caribbean.

Rooted in Guadeloupe’s rich musical traditions, Fasadé fuses gwoka rhythms, Kingston’s reggae grooves, and the powerful percussion of Roger Raspail. The album ventures across the Atlantic, embracing Senegal’s kora (Ousmane Kouyaté) and Nigeria’s vocals (Owomide), uniting diverse influences into a seamless, organic exchange.

At its core, Fasadé is a celebration of music’s power to heal, liberate, and uplift—turning even the darkest moments into rhythm and dance.
