The album “The Cole Porter Songbook” represents the meeting between the formidable singer Walter Ricci and the quartet led by Daniele Scannapieco (undoubtedly one of the best Italian saxophonists, already alongside artists of the caliber of D. D. Bridgewater, H. Salvador, J. Lovano, G. Hutchinson, M. Biondi and N. Conte). Walter Ricci, ambitious, very young, talented and hopelessly in love with music in general and jazz in particular, demonstrates that he has the vocal mastery of the great tradition of overseas crooners, but also recalls the influence of contemporary genres, skilfully ranging from jazz to pop. In this challenging comparison with the songs of the legendary Cole Porter, Ricci is supported by the Scannapieco band composed of Michele Di Martino on piano, Tommaso Scannapieco on double bass and Giampiero Virtuoso on drums.
