With her latest album and live performance, Barbara Casini introduces a new lineup and explores a repertoire that she has rarely delved into before. Alongside the well-established duo with Roberto Taufic, the saxophone presence of Javier Girotto emerges, proving to be a perfect guide for a journey through the vibrant musical landscape of Latin America. From ancient composers like Simón Diaz and Chabuca Granda to more contemporary artists like Hugo Fattoruso and Carlos Aguirre, Girotto’s saxophone adds depth and richness to the exploration. Together, they traverse the diverse countries of Latin America, including Argentina, Peru, Brazil, Mexico, Cuba, Venezuela, and Uruguay. These “sister” countries share the scars of colonialism and a deep connection to Africa through the history of slavery, but also serve as fertile ground for captivating cultural blends.
This album is Barbara Casini’s second release under the Encore label, owned by Vittorio Bartoli and Roberto Lioli, following her 2020 album “VIVA EU.”
