Gianfranco Reverberi - Africa Viva (2025) [Hi-Res]

Gianfranco Reverberi (December 12, 1934 – January 8, 2024) was an Italian composer, conductor, arranger, and producer who made significant contributions to Italian music and film. Born in Genoa, he developed an early passion for music, initially studying piano and accordion before transitioning to the vibraphone, influenced by American jazz.

Reverberi collaborated with prominent Italian artists, including Giorgio Gaber and Adriano Celentano, co-writing "Ciao ti dirò." Alongside his brother Gian Piero, he was instrumental in the Genoese School, fostering talents like Luigi Tenco and Fabrizio De André. As a producer at Ricordi and later CGD, he launched the career of Piero Ciampi and introduced artists such as Lucio Dalla and Nicola Di Bari to wider audiences.

In 1972, Reverberi conducted Italy's entry, "I giorni dell'arcobaleno," performed by Nicola Di Bari, at the Eurovision Song Contest in Edinburgh. The song achieved sixth place among eighteen entries.

Beyond pop music, Reverberi composed scores for various film genres, including spaghetti westerns and erotic horror films. His innovative soundtracks, blending jazz, psychedelia, and electronic music, have gained cult status among cinephiles.

Gianfranco Reverberi passed away in Rome on January 8, 2024, leaving a lasting legacy in both Italian music and cinema.
