Hornorkesteret - Dans fra Dalstrøka (2024) [Hi-Res]

Dans fra dalstrøka is a new studio album by Hornorkesteret, described as their most melodic and varied release yet. The album features nine instrumental pieces ranging from playful dance tunes and contemplative meditations to powerful riff explorations. Inspired by Norwegian nature and traditions, Hornorkesteret creates unique music using instruments crafted from reindeer antlers and moose skulls played with bows, producing drones and melodies rich in overtones and textures reminiscent of animal cries or human voices. Percussion instruments of bone, wood, and hooves combine with traditional drums and cymbals, while bass, mandolin, langeleik, and flutes further enrich the sound. Most compositions are by Jonas Qvale with Hornorkesteret, except "Dans fra fjellstrøka," written by Erlend Lien with the group. The album was recorded in July 2023 and released with support from Norwegian cultural organizations.
