Erlend Apneseth, Mats Eilertsen, Rolf Erik Nystrøm, Henriette Eilertsen, Rasmus Kjorstad - Song over støv (2025)

Erlend Apneseth’s new album Song over Støv, out April 4 on Hubro, blurs the lines between folk, jazz, and contemporary art music. Originally composed as a commissioned work for Oslo World and Riksscenen in 2023, the project features a powerhouse ensemble of 11 top Norwegian musicians, including multiple Hardanger fiddlers and artists from the experimental and folk scenes.

Recorded in August 2024 and co-produced with Anja Lauvdal, the album reflects Apneseth’s signature style—writing for musical personalities rather than just instruments, and blending traditional elements like springar rhythms and ornamentation with modern composition techniques. Drawing inspiration from childhood memories and global musical influences, Song over Støv is a deeply personal, evolving work that Apneseth hopes to bring to life on tour, starting with a live debut at Vossajazz 2025.
