The Unifics - Unifics-Return (2004)

The Unifics, a soul group formed in 1966 by students at Howard University, quickly rose to fame thanks to their sophisticated stage style, which featured white gloves and strobe lights. More than 30 years after disbanding, in 2004, the group’s leader Al Johnson reunited with Tom Fauntleroy and two new members to release the album Unifics Return. This release marked a symbolic comeback and paid tribute to their original style—with new songs full of mature, rich sound and nostalgia for the golden age of soul. The album proved that the Unifics’ charisma and vocal mastery had remained strong over the years.
