I've recorded a number of auspicious things with him, but this time he and his wife, Kashanti, said "Paul, why don't you get the band?" What you hear is the result. When I first apprenticed with Tisziji, he started me out on jazz standards. Once I could accompany him on these, he went modal on me and we never played another change. With Will Calhoun and Jamaaladeen Tacuma, two cats who he had never met, he chose not to prearrange anything.
