Grandmas House - Anything For You [EP] (2025)

I recently found out about Bristol-based queer punk band Grandma’s House via the magic of social media algorithms (not a sentence you can expect to see from me often—as a single woman in my early forties, it’s lately decided I need to know about every dating app in existence and how to please my man, that presumably I should find through said apps). Thankfully, this time it picked up on my love for women in music and punk, and I ended up going to see them live just after International Women’s Day.

‘Anything For You’ is their third EP, and it’s five songs of drama, intrigue, and grungy guitars. My personal favourite is Slaughterhouse (somewhat ironically, seeing as I’m a vegetarian), a dark, obsessive love song with delightfully twisted lyrics like “I would be your slaughterhouse, I would be your killing floor, I would be the funeral home…”—a warped take on your usual love song fare.

From the Gods is an epic affair, featuring eerie vocals and haunting guitars that build into a glorious frenzy. Haunt Me slows things down, with vocals from both Poppy (drummer and vocalist) and Zoe (guitarist and vocalist), bringing an intriguing blend of gentleness and earthiness. Nothing Special and Screw It Up pick up the pace—Nothing Special hooks you with its catchy chorus, while Screw It Up leans into the grunge with full force.
