Gordon Chapman-Fox – best known for his work as Warrington-Runcorn New Town Development Plan – opens Castles in Space’s new Lunar Module imprint with a striking departure from his usual analogue synth sound. This untitled debut offers four long-form pieces of cinematic ambient music, designed for foreground immersion rather than background drift.

“I wanted to stretch my legs and create something more organic and immersive,” says Chapman-Fox. Abandoning the arpeggios and melodies that define his other work, he turns instead to orchestral textures, using sound libraries to evoke the breath of choirs and the scrape of bows. The result is a deeply atmospheric collection – sombre, expansive and rich in detail – that reveals a new dimension of his compositional voice.
