Returning to Spanish-language recordings, the album bounces through folk pop/rock, reggaeton, salsa, techno, and punk, and yet it never feels like the work of a dilettante, but rather that of an artist full of ideas and intoxicated by the variety of music surrounding her.

Shakira does it all — she evokes Antonio Carlos Jobim on "Obtener un Sí", dives into new wave and punk on "Escondite Inglés", and then immerses herself in the beauty of sentimental balladry with "No". Thanks to the expert guidance of Rick Rubin (who himself masters several styles), Shakira has created a delightful and eclectic album.
