Vari (The Live Sessions) is an intimate and immersive live reimagining of seven tracks from Varijashree Venugopal’s eponymous album Vari. Arranged by Michael League, mixed by Nic Hard, and mastered by Dave McNair, the album captures Varijashree’s vocal virtuosity in a raw, spontaneous setting — recorded live in her hometown of Bengaluru.

The music blends intricate Carnatic tradition with global influences, showcasing her uniquely expressive voice in an ambient, emotionally resonant space. The result feels deeply personal, as if she is singing directly to the listener.

The sessions feature contributions from Michael League, Pramath Kiran, Jayachandra Rao, Apoorva Krishna, Vivek Santhosh, and special guest Praveen D Rao.

Varijashree, a Grammy-nominated artist, is renowned for her ability to use her voice like an instrument, merging Indian classical techniques with diverse global genres. A child prodigy with deep roots in Carnatic music, she is also a flautist, composer, and educator, known for collaborations with artists like Bobby McFerrin, Jacob Collier, Anoushka Shankar, and Snarky Puppy.
