Built on inventive sampling (Japanese koto, basketballs), live improvisation, and subtle complexity, Clay is shaped by Herbert’s production mastery and Gill’s lyrical, genre-defying voice. From the soaring melancholy of “Mowing” to the tender interplay on “Heart”, the album is a visceral conversation in sound — raw, refined, and full of humanity.
