At thirteen, Graham Parker played in a skiffle band. His rhythm'n'blues voice eventually attracted the interest of a producer, who formed a band for him in July 1975, The Rumours (with Brinsley Schwarz). Albums followed (including Howlin'Wind in 1976 and The Parkerilla in 1978), and critics compared him to Springsteen, but success was not forthcoming. Parker moved to the United States. In 1988, he recorded the excellent Mona Lisa's Sister, and since then has established himself as a complete artist and performer, whose compositions have been covered by others (Dave Edmunds, Pointer Sisters).
