Simtec & Wylie were a funky soul duo from Chicago, modeled after classic 60s male duos like Sam & Dave but with a wilder edge shaped by years of gritty 45s and Simtec’s solo eccentricities. Their one and only LP, released on Gene Chandler’s Mister Chand label (a Mercury subsidiary), features backing from the T-Boxes and includes raw funk cuts like "Bootleggin", "Gotta Get Over the Hump", and "Put Up or Shut Up". A fierce slice of Chicago funk energy.
