Hiraeth, the sophomore album by Sofie Birch and Antonina Nowacka, is a bucolic, atavistic daydream captured directly to tape in the Polish countryside. Built around guitar, zither, and ethereal vocals, the record is enriched with field recordings of birdsong and wind, and subtle synth and keyboard textures. The Welsh concept of hiraeth—a longing for something lost or perhaps never had—anchors their essentialist approach, born from open-air improvisations and a reel-to-reel creative process.
