Retumba La Tierra is the third album by Chilean band Calle Mambo, founded in 2013 and now based in Barcelona. The record fuses traditional Latin-American rhythms—cumbia, huayno, caporal and timba—with modern electronic beats, rap flows and urban grooves. More than ten traditional instruments, including quena, quenacho, charango, Venezuelan cuatro, ronroco, zampoña, timbales, Colombian gaita and tiple, add vibrant acoustic colors. Lyrically, the album tackles social, cultural and environmental issues such as human rights, migration, ecological protection and the fight against xenophobia. The title track “Retumba La Tierra” is described as “the trembling earth’s voice,” calling for ecological awareness and a renewed bond with nature, while “La Peregrina” honors migrant women and “Rumbo Al Norte” narrates the hardships of crossing the Mediterranean.
