The album Zeami - For Leif is a musical project by Bengt Berger, inspired by the works of Zeami Motokiyo, the founding figure of Japanese Noh theatre. It features music from a 1999 workshop at the Stockholm University of the Arts (Department of Acting), led by Leif Sundberg and Bengt Berger, aimed at finding relevance for contemporary contexts. The album also includes music from a play adapted by Ingegerd Monthán for Swedish Radio. It concludes with an exercise where Leif Sundberg maintains the intensity of the short eight-line poem "Att Höra en Röst (To Hear a Voice)" over a slow percussive breathing pulse, lasting eleven minutes. The music blends Indian classical elements (K. Sridhar on sarod), jazz improvisation, and Scandinavian influences, emphasizing percussion and vocals.
