Jean-Jacques Milteau gathers around him several talented assistants: Michael Robinson, Mike Andersen, Harrison Kennedy, Carlton Moody under the leadership of Johan Dalgaard... to record an album steeped in blues and all the music that he has been creating for over twenty years in his show "Bon Temps Rouler". "My whole life was defined by buying my first harmonica when I was fifteen. For me, this was really the Key to Success (The Key To The Highway)...
Whether it's the 1958 version by Little Walter, the 1970 version by Clapton and Duane Allman, or the one mistakenly considered the original by Big Bill Broonzy and Jazz Gillum, "Key to the Highway" is undoubtedly considered a classic, if not an anthem! Blues researchers agree that song lyrics are often taken at face value. But here we are dealing with the obvious: the common desire of each person to free himself from a state of insecurity and find his own personal path that brings satisfaction. Even if I never thought that my humble "ruin-babine" would serve such a purpose, I must honestly admit that all the meetings that shaped my life happened more or less directly thanks to the Marine Band 1896/20. For me, this little harmonica was the key to The Key to the Highway."..
"There are so many people to thank for the existence of this album... Let them know that we are eternally grateful to them for the help or inspiration they have given us, sometimes without even realizing it. In a society that prefers competition, it's useful to remember that you can't do anything alone." diggersfactory.com
Charming, like everything produced by Milto-bluesman! Although the source material of this album, contrary to the name and with rare exceptions, is not blues, but pop music. In the company of vocalists (Mike Andersen, Harrison Kennedy, Carlton Moody, Michael Robinson) and his own band, he recorded original covers such as Bob Dylan, Cream, Gerry Rafferty, Tony Joe White. In the harmonica part, it's exquisite, artful, and subtle in French. In terms of arrangement, there is a high-class combination of blues + easy listening jazz WITHOUT guitar. The vocalists meet the artistic task described above, that is, they are impeccable. It's charming, like everything produced by Milto-bluesman, although we'll make a reservation: the material of this album, contrary to the name, with rare exceptions, is not blues, but classic pop music with a black "tan". Get ready for micro surprises in the interpretation of canonical Key or Sunshine.
