Led by singer/songwriter Leroy Virgil, Hellbound Glory is a rough-and-rowdy country band that manages to skirt outlaw clichés. Virgil launched the band with 2008's Scumbag Country, and then he kept the group going through varying lineup changes over the next decade. Virgil was raised in Aberdeen, Washington, where he played in a group called Soylint Green. After relocating to Reno, Nevada in 2002, he formed the first lineup of Hellbound Glory. The band's first album, Scumbag Country, appeared in 2008, with its successor, Old Highs New Lows, released two years later. Damaged Goods followed in 2011, receiving a boost when Kid Rock selected the band to play on his Chillin' the Most Cruise; he later had the band support him in 2013. Virgil decided to take a stripped-down acoustic detour for 2014's LV EP, after which he retired the Hellbound Glory name for a few years. He resurrected Hellbound Glory in 2017 for the Shooter Jennings-produced Pinball. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine
