Many Rivers is the debut album by the trio of Lauren Scales (vocals), Mike Flanagan (alto saxophone), and Chris Grasso (piano), a vibrant blend of jazz tradition and modern soul. The album features seven covers and two original compositions by Scales, performed with soulful chemistry among the musicians. Joined by guest artists like bassist Luques Curtis, drummers Richie Barshay and Charles Haynes, and trombonist Steve Davis, the music ranges from reimaginings of songs by D’Angelo and Neil Diamond to interpretations of Thelonious Monk standards and Great American Songbook classics like “But Beautiful,” creating a unique sound that bridges diverse musical worlds.
