Memphis, Tennessee-based four-piece Petty Gene celebrates their tenth anniversary with the release of their first studio album, intriguingly titled Chagrin County Courthouse. Songwriter Seth Hendricks (lead vocals, electric guitar), Stephen Williams (electric guitar, background vocals), Keith Pounds (bass), and Jesse Williams (drums, percussion) pour out twelve powerful roots rock songs, from a barrel in which grunge, alternative rock, and alt-country matured in the 90s. It’s all equally solid and grooving, with characterful vocals, a confident rhythm section, and classy guitar riffs that are given plenty of space—a rewarding listen from first sip to final chord.
