JER is the ska-punk project of Jeremy Hunter (Skatune Network), based in Gainesville, Florida. Following the ambitious Bothered / Unbothered LP (2022), second full-lengther Death of the Heart promises an even wider scope, pulling in convincing hardcore screams and raps that many hip-hop acts would envy, but also spoken word, alt-rock or reggae elements, and just as easily a turntablism interlude or jazz intermezzo—without losing sight of melody or urgency.

The fifteen tracks here are unflinching in addressing injustice—they make you want to kick down walls—but the urge to dance is also hard to resist. Brass, riffs, and rage stitched into pure energy.
