With this new album, Opus Méduse reinvents the repertoire of sea shanties, often described as masculine, sexist, harsh, tragic or humorous songs.
The group has chosen to put the sea back at the center of contemporary issues such as ecology, migrants, stowaways, islanders, human stories, love stories, sensuality, tolerance, respect, and life.
They want to dust off “sailor songs,” talk about today, and put the sea back at the center of contemporary pop culture.
The album features real songwriting and arrangements, electric guitars, drums, and a vocoder mixed with accordion, creating a bridge between traditional arrangements and pop-rock sounds, always with the sea as a backdrop.
