Susana López - Materia Vibrante (2025) [Hi-Res]

Susana López’s Materia Vibrante, her third release for Elevator Bath and first on vinyl, is a finely crafted work of tranquil yet powerful soundscapes. Small details and vast drones merge into an elegant sonic meditation.

Drawing on field recordings from Irish megalithic sites, underwater sounds from Asturias rivers, and electromagnetic scans from Birmingham, López layers these with synthesizers, harmonium, experimental “sonic triangle,” percussion, and her own voice. The result connects the tangible with the imagined.

The four tracks form a thematic constellation. ‘Mundus Imaginalis’ explores the realm where vision and vibration meet. The title piece reflects on art’s transformative, alchemical power, shaped by López’s personal experiences with illness and renewed bodily awareness. ‘Sonic Meditation’ channels cycles of nature and ritual listening, while ‘Luminescence’ celebrates technology’s imaginative role in human life.

Materia Vibrante invites the listener to hear the world as perpetual vibration — a journey of resonance rather than resolution.
