Miguel Zenón Quartet - Vanguardia Subterránea: Live at The Village Vanguard (Live) (2025)

On August 29, 2025, Grammy-winning saxophonist and composer Miguel Zenón will release **Vanguardia Subterránea**, the first-ever live album from his long-standing quartet featuring pianist Luis Perdomo, bassist Hans Glawischnig, and drummer Henry Cole.

Recorded in September 2024 at New York's iconic Village Vanguard, the album captures the unique energy of the group's live performances after two decades of playing together. Released on Zenón's own Miel Music label, it features six new original compositions and Zenón's arrangements of two salsa classics: Willie Colón and Héctor Lavoe’s “El Día de Mi Suerte” and Gilberto Santa Rosa’s “Perdóname.”

The original tracks are conceptually rich, with inspirations ranging from the geographical coordinates of the band members' birthplaces ("Coordenadas") to personal tributes to his grandmother ("Vita") and mother ("Bendición"). The album is a significant addition to Zenón's discography, finally documenting the riveting excitement of his quartet in a legendary live setting.
